The Ocean Fracture - The Sunmachine And The Ocean

These guys were from Glasgow in Scotland, I say were because sadly they split back in 2010. I swear I say this a lot, but yeah was a shame these guys were good and never got to reach their full potential. So they were a four piece playing some pretty epic sounding post-hardcore. They left behind this, another self released Ep, a single and a split they did with Bleaklow a post metal group.. If you're in the mood for checking out some epic post-hardcore check them out. They also have a collection of tunes up for free download on their facebook page. Anways this was released back in 2006, the sunmachine and the ocean go listen it up.

Echo Base - Keep Your Expectations Reasonable

Two piece emo mathy punk thing from Tallahassee, Florida. Debut Ep by these guys released on the 16th of June, some pretty cool tunes on here and is another one of those name your price bandcamp Gems.. Check it out here.

Mike.Curtin - Indecisive Euphoria

So I think this is like one dude, pretty darn impressive if so, really good even if it isn't. Decent as math rock from Sparta in New Jersey six tracks released back on the 10th of April, he has the digital up on his bandcamp for free download and you can also get a limited edition physical there too.. Good stuffs go listen here.

Grown By Earth - Havens

So these guys recently released their debut EP, on the 16th of August. A three piece playing some pretty rocking hardcore from Lund in Sweden. I particularly like the fourth track "misguided" anyways they have this up on their bandcamp for free download, definitely worth checking out. Link to the bandcamp

Pictures - Cross, Cross Eyed/I Can't Touch Him; I Have Electric Hands

This is good really good, came out in 2008, shame this is all they released because I really would like to have heard more from them and seen them play, it has that energy you get from At The Drive-In.  So four guys from Brighton that can now be found in the likes of Brontide, Easy Hips, No Coast and Le Swing.. But still I really liked this oh well, if you like your post-hardcore with energy give this a go. Tis here.

Crash Of Rhinos - Distal

So sticking with bands from Derby for the time being. Five piece from Derby playing mathy post-hardcore stuffs so half of these guys were in the Jesus Years which is incidentally how I got into these guys, the other half coming from the Little Explorer. The band comprises of two guitarists two bassists and a drummer and I think they all sing.. Looks like they are writing new stuff at the moment which is good, because they are, good. In the mean time though you can check this one out on their band camp, it's up for name your price. The link is here.

Grande Duke - Circle of Willis EP

These dudes come from Derby, and they play sort of post-rock, math rock stuff this is their second EP came out a while back in March 2011. Is a good listen, winding and atmospheric, some pretty cool jazzy drum bits too. Anyways they have this up on their bancamp for free so it would be rude not too have a listen. Link to the bandcamp.

Erase Errata - Other Animals

Another old favourite, one of the very few all girl bands I like. These gals come from San Francisco and play a sort of noise rock, post-punk thing very spazzy sounding guitars and drums, lots of awkward time signatures all adds up to something awesome yes. This is like eleven years old now but to me doesn't sound dated, this was their first album of three so far and they were a four piece then but now are only three.. I ramble but basically you should check it out, if you haven't that is of course. Check it here.

Faraquet - The View From This Tower

Time for an old favourite of mine. So Faraquet were a three piece indie post-hardcore band with math rock leanings from Washington D.C that were active from 1997 to 2001 when they disbanded, shame because they were really really good. For me this is their seminal piece, their only full length, it's just such a complete sounding record, everything just comes together and works so well on it. These guys have definitely influenced a lot of the modern post-hardcore and math rock bands that I enjoy today, so good. So basically if by some chance you haven't listened to these guys I strongly advise you to do, I can't see you regretting it.. The View From This Tower.

Suffer Like G Did - Raspberry EP

Was just checking out these guys as they are supporting Toe in September at XOYO in London and I thought supporting Toe must be good.. Yeah they are, play some funky instrumental math rock and are supper tight. Anyway they just released this their new EP on the 21st which has three fruity tunes on. You can listen to this and their earlier EP up on the bandcamp, I will say the production values are better on this one though, but both are a good listen. Bandcamp.

El Alamein - New Patterns

Some mathyish post-punk/post-hardcore four piece from Brisbane. This was released on 6th of August of this year and is definitely a good listen, has a uplifting feeling to it which is always good in this sort of music good emotive shouty singing. They have this up for name your price on bandcamp also, link here.

Thinguins - Demo

So after the last post was thinking about Friends, and I'm fairly sure they are no more seeing as three of the four of them are in this new band Thinguins. Playing some pretty cool indie math rock the demo is up on their bandcamp check it it's worth the listen and I'm hoping we'll here something longer pretty soon. Bandcamp.

Future 1983 - Future 1983

These guys are cool, I can't find out much about them apart from they are three dudes from Fernandina Beach and that one of them is in Friends (the band) I can't even find out if they are still going.. I hope they are because I'd like to hear more stuff from them. So they go under the banners on their bandcamp of experimental and progressive rock, I would also say they sound like some fiddly instrumental progressive post-hardcore with mathy elements, think a bit like a less hardcore fall of troy with a more indie sound. Anways these guys rock plus they have this up on their bandcamp for free download win win. Link to this on their bandcamp.

Ironhide - Create/Collapse/Repeat

Right so another cool band from Brisbane. This came out back in April of 2011 and these guys are basically progressive tech-metal that mixes up elements of hardcore, mathcore, metalcore and some post-rock elements and do it well it all works nicely. Was reading up a bit on these guys and it sounds like they were ripped of buy some douche bag from their old record label who basically took the money from the pre-orders for their album and vanished so not cool, big respect to them though they still have this up for name your price on bandcamp cool guys. I would definitely go support them if you can after that tho nasty stuff! plus this is good. Bandcamp

Capeweather - EP

Continuing with the post-hardcore vibe.. Capeweather are four piece from Brisbane and they put this out back in July of 2011, they play post-hardcore with screamo vocals and they pull it of quite well I'd say work well with the whole noisy to melodic thing anways they have this up on their bancamp for name your price and is well worth checking out. Sounds like these guys are working on new stuff so hopefully will hear a full length soon.Bandcamp.

Reading Festival - At The Drive-In set and bits

So Reading festival for me was always going to be about one thing and that was having the first chance to see ATDI in the UK in over 11 years. I wasn't just gonna waste the whole ticket price and not see any other bands though, I also caught the Shins, wasn't that impressed with, Enter Shikari, they were a good laugh although whilst in the mosh pit there well on my way out I got an elbow to the nose which resulted in it being broken nice.. This wasn't so bad apart from when I went to the loo to get some tissue to mop up the blood of which there was lots I got accosted and taken to the medi tent. Bit of pain got stuck there for a while plus it was out of the arena and away form my mates plus they tried to make me stay there.. No way was that happening I was seeing At The Drive-In at all costs. Anyway after much ballacheing I was aloud to get on my way again. So then went and caught the Masterdon set, they were good. Sat through some other band I can't remember as I waited for ATDI, then finally it was time for them to come on. I must say it was incredible, not super packed in there, well it was at the front but not on the whole, but the atmosphere was brilliant everyone who was there really really wanted to be and the band came out and blew us all away, super tight played so many good tunes and just rocked out was literally amazing. For me was the best thing ever but then they are my all time number one band but still they didn't disappoint in anyway. Great to be there with everyone loving it so much and singing along to all the songs, waited so so long for that gig but it was worth it, if you get the chance go see them don't be a reformist hater they are so so good now the energy and presence is still there truly jaw dropping incredible.

The set list was as follows:

 'Arcarsenal'
'Pattern Against User'
'Chanbara'
'Lopsided'
'Sleepwalk Capsules'
'Napoleon Solo'
'Quarantined'
'Enfilade'
'Pickpocket'
'Metronome Arthritis'
'Non-Zero Possibility'
'Catacombs'/'That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore'
'One Armed Scissor'

Meet Me In St Louis

Feeling in the mood for some post-hardcore and these guys are one of my favourites, they were sweet as. They split back in 2008 leaving behind a demo an EP and an album and a few other bits and pieces. Basically they played some blindingly good post hardcore, mixing up crazy time shifts, mad beats catchy vocals and epic riffs so so good.  The EP being, with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high water mark - the place where the wave hit the shore and rolled back, link here and the album was called Variations on swing, link here.

So Much Light - Supine/Spellbound

This is Damien Verrett from the Speed of sound in Sea Waters latest solo effort and if you dig them you might like this. As you can imagine there are similarities to the sound, his singing and guitar work would be familiar to you just a bit more pop and acoustic sounding and with lots of extra instrumentation here and there but still retaining some of the mathy sound, is definitely worth a listen though. This came out on the third of August and is up on his bandcamp for name your price, you can also get a physical there too. Link here.

Cinemechanica - The Martial Arts

This is a band I really want to release some new stuff.. They released a ep back in 2008, but not heard anything new, well I lie one new tune on a split but come on plus this came out in 2006. I think they are on tour at the moment so I wont moan too much hopefully some new stuff will follow. Basically some sweet as mathy post hardcore good shit. You can listen to this and their ep Rivals on bandcamp. I really like the guitars and drums on this some good angular tapping going on, plus the drums are so well laid out not one beat out of place on the whole thing, just all rocks. You can find this album here.

Lions - MNTZ

Been listening to this for a while now and it's stuck with me I like it. What I like about it is it's some non posy math rock with some good emotive singing to go with it, almost has a kind of punky feel to it.. I especially like how the singing and the guitars always compliment each other nicely, makes me wanna sing along ha ha sounds and makes me feel optimistic somehow. So yeah heard plenty of math with vocals but somehow a lot of it always seems a bit I dunno, just find the two blend well on this. Anyways I think these guys are working on some new stuff, looking forward to hearing it. You can find this up on their bandcamp and they also have a link there where you can download this for free, very nice of them. Link to Bandcamp.

And No Star - Shine Like Old Trophies

Stumbled across this again today, dunno why I haven't listened to this in a while because it's good stuff. Some busy instrumental post-rock from Wantage which is near Oxford. Dunno what happened to these guys never heard anything of them after this and after some researching I can't find anything about them.. So anyway I think this came out in 2005, though I'm not sure bit of a vague post this. All there is about these guys on the net is their myspace link here, where there is a slightly different version of the last track off this Ep the track Rats on DNA. So yeah this is basically post-rock I think, but always busy there are build ups in places but they move don't drag out and drain the music, so yeah if that sounds interesting you should check um out. Will post again on these guys if I find out any more or find more material. Link to the Ep here.

Omar A. Rodriguez-Lopez - Old Money

Feeling the prog today. Big big fan of Omar and going to see one of his other bands next week (not the Mars Volta) and I didn't want to do the obvious post, well not yet anyway so thought I would stick up one of my favourites of his solo efforts, plus one of my all time favourite drummers Jon Theodore (ex Mars Volta crew) plays on this.. So this came out in 2008 and is some dense progressive rock for you here, you can definitely hear elements of the Mars Volta's sound (unsurprisingly) in this and the Latino styling but as with a lot of his solo stuff has a more proggy spaced out warped and introverted feel to it, and no Cedric singing.. Really good album to feel like a space cake and just absorb the atmosphere of it, though might be a bit too disjointed for some Mars Volta fans but if you dig them and are feeling adventurous give it a go. Link to this here.

Rolo Tomassi - Eternal Youth

To continue with the insane tech stuff one of my personal favourite bands woo! They recently announced a new album coming out this year, very exciting so yeah rolo post time. So this is a twin cd set or three Lp set and basically a collection of works by the band stuff from early releases rare stuff odd bits and remixes being the second part. This collection basically for me holds all of my favourite tunes by them and is sweeet, OK so some of the remixes aren't my thing but some of them are awesome good, I actually prefer the material on this to the stuff on their albums but that may just be me. Anyways for me defo one of the best bands to come out the UK since like ever plus Eva is hot (photo lol) I definitely need to go seem these again soon.. Right I'm rambling err yeah go check them and this if you haven't already.. we'll put this under the tags prog rock hardcore I think, heard people say mathcore but yeah no haha. Link to this here.

Antares - l'esprit de l'escalier

If you caught the post on the Chronicles of Adam West you might have read that the guitarist that was in that band is in another, this is that band. So some more UK tech shiz think COAW bit different think more electronics maybe less chaotic sounding bit more spacey (haha I'm struggling a bit with this description) but yeah still ridiculously technical and sweet goodness. So this madness came out back in 2009 yeah and I've lost my physical and you can't buy it any more doh! So these guys also did a split with Rolo Tomassi which I will probably put up sometime. I just saw this quote about them had to put it up.

"make ever other tech metal band look like that first band you were in, y’know the one that played at the school battle of the bands and covered oasis, blur etc"

Not my words but ha ha yeah maybe they are pretty insanecore.. Anyway if you liked the COAW stuff then definitely check this out here.

Ron Jarzombek - PHHHP!

Right was listening to this yesterday and thought yeah need to put some Ron up in here. This has been said before (not by me) but I will reiterate, Ron should be a legend to lots of people by now, he is to some and I'm pretty sure he exercises a lot of influence over progressive types that know him but, still considering the stuff he has put out there and super wickedness of his guitar skills and song writing, I just think he deserves more acclaim. He's played in bands such as Watchtower, Spastic Ink and more recently Blotted science, all of which are pretty rocking. I thought I'd start out with some of his solo stuff as its good maybe a bit odd but I love it.. Basically some metal progressive oddness with some ultimately sweet guitar work really good. So Basically this came out long long time ago way way back in 1996! haha I was like 12, nowadays you get PHHHP! plus which comes with eclectic electric but I thought I'd save that one for another time cos I'm mean.. It's good, doesn't sound that dated especially cos it's like him and keyboard and bits and people put out stuff not this good now, anyway if you wanna check it out it's here.

Televangelist - Crime Wave

Got a bit of a surprise today when I listened to this mainly because I hadn't realised before that they shared members with Daytes, but yeah was expecting kind of mathy noise rock like their last ep.. OK so it's not that instead they seem to have gone more in the same direction as Daytes that kind of progressive mathy indie thing, I will say its not as fast and twiddly as Daytes which to me sound like an indie fall of troy, it's got a similar vibe to it but definitely slower and more soundy if that makes any sense? Good little ep though in my book I look forward to these guys releasing a full length sometime. So this came out on the 8th of august and is up on the name your price thing on bandcamp so you can pick it up for free, good stuff! You can also pick up their last release there too, link to Crime Wave on their bandcamp here go have a gander.

Lite - Phantasia

This is in keeping with the last post. Another Japanese band that fall into that instrumental, post-rock math rock area and once again displaying obscene technicality.. Where these guys differ is that they are more up tempo most of the time compared to Toe and a bit more up the math rock end of the spectrum I would say, but also really really good. So this was released back in 2008 and is one of my favourite releases by these guys, loads of cool loopy style bits and some serious rocking out in parts, good compositions and I would say they break down the musical ideas pretty darn well too, well worth a listen too. If you are interested in checking them out Phantasia can be found here.

Toe - The Book About My Idle Plot On A Vague Anxiety

Continuing with the more chilled out rock vibe.. Been wanting to put some stuff up by these guys for a while now, and now seemed like a good time to do so. So Toe if you don't know are a Japanese instrumental rock band hard to say if it's post-rock or math rock kinda a bit of both. Anyway so this is their first actual album released way back in 2005 they released some splits and eps before this though but yeah first full length. This stuff is so tight as you would expect for Japanese instrumentalists, I swear I never hear anything that isn't but even having said that comparatively this is super super tight and the composition is always spot on with these guys never gets boring always something going on, good stuff very good. So yeah pretty excited because these lot are coming to the the UK in September which I don't think happens very often, I'm not sure but I don't think they have before.. But yeah super excited so the only way I could contain myself for a while was doing a little post. So if you like instrumental, post-rock math rock stuff and you haven't already you should check these. Expect more posts on them plus a gig post, anyway you can find this album here.

HREDA - ep one

Putting this up here for a couple of reasons, firstly like a bit of balance and recently been rocking out the heavies.. Secondly I don't usually like much post rock, but this is pretty good, well the first track is full on awesome. Thirdly I just realised these guys are no more, I think it's been for quite a while but still bit of a shame if my friend is to believed and I think he spoke to the guy, the guitarist left to be In This Town Needs Guns, "to make money" jokes, but fair enough I guess not that I'm sure that will work.. OK so I don't have anything else by these guys but this is good. So basically some noisy rocking post rock goodness, as I said earlier first track is I think Awsome, good build up breaks really well yay, second track bit of an ambient noise right off but hey post rock I guess, third track epic though the end goes on maybe a bit too long but then I don't really dig that part of post rock haha.. Apparently it's pronounced funny but I cant be bothered to write it out phonetically. So this is kind old and pretty hard to find, I don't think you can even buy it any more so here is a link to it go listen.

Grizzly - Drawn And Quartered

OK so just in that sort of mood, had to post this some more techgrind goodness. Nice short and sweet Ep of some brutal grinding noise, some pretty cool breakdowns in there and mad shredding fun times. Think these guys are from Canada, well this can be found here do it..

Bedlam of Cacophony - Neuroleptic

So I wanted to do two posts today and I shall, and I wanted to put up some brutal insane shit and this is just that. Some pretty brutal techgrind, techmetal shiz definitely worth a check if your in the mood for some of that shit. These guys hail from southern California, they formed back in 2007 and have been musically assaulting people ever since. I like this album, it goes from stupidly fast and chaotic to slow grinding almost doomy epic breakdown passages in some places, and some pretty cool bass solo bits almost a bit primus like? Anyway sweet mental fast and pretty chaotic. They have this and the rest of their stuff up on bandamp for free download link here, but yeah check um if you fancy some of that.

Chronicles Of Adam West - We Walk Unbalanced

OK so this isn't new, but I was listening to this again today and I had forgoten just how good it was. So five dudes from Reading UK and if remember correctly they used to describe themselves as hardcore kids gone tech and I'd go with that. Unfortunately they didn't last long and only released this and a demo as far as I know. So heard these guys described as Dillinger Escape esc a lot.. Well I dunno maybe kinda but not really and I wouldn't really peg this as mathcore maybe just me. I'd definitely go with hardcore gone tech, blisteringly fast chaotic hardcore maybe with grindcore styled guitar leads, sounds good doesn't it? Just love the guitars on this some of them just sound twisting they sound like the music is collapsing on itself great stuff, some great musical breakdowns in there too and some nice interludes of quieter melodic parts to let you mind recover for a few seconds. This still sounds new to me even though it's getting on for five years old now. I do believe that one of the guys is still playing in the band Antares (the ones on holy roar not the gash ones!) who are also good might put something up on them sometime.. I would put up a download link for this but you can get it for like 2 quid from Holy Roar and you can check out the tunes there first too so it just seem wrong. Link here, shame the actual physical has sold out, though I do have it lucky me anyway definitely worth checking out if you haven't. I kick myself for not seeing them when they were about!!

Oh No, It's Birds

These are definitely one of if not the best band that just seemed to go nowhere and just disappeared without as far as I can tell making much of an impact which is a crying shame because they are awesome really really good! I mean I guess they are no more from this comment on their facebook page:

"Thanks a lot for the continuing support guys. If anyone wants our records you can download them pretty much anywhere for free. Or if you're on iTunes a shit ton you can download Tall Tales the legit way there. As long as people are enjoying our tunes, that is ultimately what makes us happy.

Thanks again to everyone for all the support throughout the years...we had a blast playing for you.

-birdmen"

That was mid 2011 and at last check they had 164 likes hmm.. that's pretty much fucking ridiculous because I say it again they are AWESOME really really good. They play a sort of progressive post hardcore which kinda sits somewhere between At The Drive-In and The Fall Of Troy but that description doesn't really do justice to their sound. I have seen these guys up on some other cool music blogs which is good because I'm glad people are trying to get this stuff about because I'm sure more people really should be into this.. It kinda annoys me really tried to get a fair few of my friends into this band and it's fallen on deaf ears even though they like similar things, maybe because they are vaguely like atdi and tfot but seriously they are as good as either band in their own right and totally have their own individual sound grr! Anyway tried to find working links to all three of their releases but at the moment having trouble finding their first Ep but you can find their last release here Tall Tales the conscience Tells and their second here The Insides of a Broken Robot. Apparently Tall Tales the Conscience Tells is also on I-Tunes, so yeah if you like this sort of stuff really do yourself a favour check um out listen to them, do it with an open ear don't be another lame ass that has listened to this band and dismissed the genius don't do it to yourself! *Edit OK so this link works for A Stabbing In Shallow Water, their first release..

Refused - The gig post

OK so I totally intended to like take loads of photos of the gig and some film footage of Refused going off mental, but I basically got into the mosh pit and ended up having way to much fun to want to leave to go somewhere it would have been safe enough to do so.. So the gig well it was last night at the hmv forum in Kentish town down in London and basically was pretty much amazing. They totally rocked the fuck out, played loads of tunes off of the shape to come and some other choice tunes out of their back catalogue. Highlights of the gig for me were when they played Refused party programme that was mental really mental, also when Dennis Lyxzen jumped into the crowd from one of the side balcony bits that was pretty cool to watch. One of my other favourite moments was when they played the tune circle pit, you can probably imagine how the crowd reacted to that one, needless to say big circle pit. The only down points of the gig were right at the beginning when they rinsed out some annoying sound for what seemed like FOREVER whilst we waited for them to come on kinda annoying, and also how much they loved themselves up at the end, but I've got to say I can easily forgive them this for bringing it so fucking hardcore and totally owning it for the rest of the gig. Definitely goes down as one of the best I've seen and considering how much I was anticipating seeing them they didn't disappoint, spent the entire gig in the pit which I rarely do, its just too hot, nearly passed out from the heat, ended up being completely soaked through to my pants and left so dehydrated I was pretty much delirious but worth every minute and bruise I walked away with. So good.

Lets Talk Daggers

Looks like these guys are recording some new stuff at the moment which is good because they are pretty darn sweet. Three dudes from Eastbourne.. Play some pretty rocking post hardcore stuff pretty gutted I missed them when they came to Oxford, teaches me to pay more attention I guess! Hopefully they will come again soon. But yeah interesting not wanky rocking post hardcore the best type good shit. You can Listen to their second Ep Blankets here on their bandcamp and you can find their last Ep Winter here. Must say I do prefer Blankets though just sounds more energetic and direct, not to say that Winter isn't good it is. Will do another post on these guys when they release their next or I see um play.

Self-Evident - we built a fortress on short notice

Been waiting for this to come out for a while now. Was released a couple of days ago at one of their shows and the physical general release is tomorrow although you can already get the digital off their bandcamp now. So yeah three guys from Minneapolis play sort of mathy post punk indie thing pretty darn good at it too. I'd say that this from first listens is a bit more challenging than their last release endings, and I did like the slightly heavier sound on that record, but equally this album doesn't disappoint me anyway cos I do love angular guitar riffs of which there are plenty and like everything I've heard from these guys really good well thought out song structures. Anyway definitely worth the 7 dollars or in real money 4quid something good times.. Go listen.

Aminals - The Weird Horror Of Social Relevance

Right so this little two track was released back in March this year and is good stuff if you like stuff rocking and heavy, I do.. Love the breakdowns these guys do seriously rocking shit. So these guys come from over the pond in New England and go under the tags of Death Metal, Hardcore, Metal, Punk Experimental on their bandcamp I'd go for Hardcore punk but hey who cares. They Kinda remind me of Refused in some ways which is a good thing in my book. They used to go under the name Atomic Ballroom calamity and they were good then too.. They have all their stuff up for free download on their bandcamp  which is nice of them! Really looking forward to hearing a full length under the Aminals name. Anyway check out this two track here.

Rosa Valle - Holy Bermuda

OK so this is coming up to being a year old now, but it is really good though hadn't listened to it for a while until today because I was looking to see if they were gonna put out something new soon. So these guys are from Middlesbrough UK and they play math mosh. Pretty good shit basically pretty rocking math rock with vocals yay for math rock you can mosh too.. Anyway brilliant little Ep plenty of twiddly bits, sweet breakdowns. My favourite track of the Ep being lottery fantasies starts out with gentle guitar taps and base and is sooo good when it breaks anyway you can check out there stuff on Bandcamp here

You Slut! Medium Bastard

Something a bit newer.. You Slut! (great name) are a math rock band that come from Derby and Nottingham in the UK and formed back in 2004. They class themselves as Math-Smarties-disco-pop-cheese-waltzcore and yeah they are pretty cool. Basically they play what I would call pretty darn interesting fidgety math rock plenty of time changes loads of riffs and stops and starts they pretty much always have something going on to keep you interested. They released Medium Bastard, their newest release back in April which you can listen to here definitely worth a listen. I really need to go and see these guys play plus they seem to be touring round the UK at the moment hopefully they will play near Oxford I reckon they will be fun to see anyways. Also check out there other album its also good critical meat

Refused

So first post and for me it was pretty much a toss up between two bands, but basically as I'm seeing these guys next week and also because the blog's name kinda takes inspiration from one of their song titles thought I had better start it here. Anyway for those of you that don't know Refused are a Swedish hardcore punk band who originally formed way back in 1991 and were active until 1998 when they disbanded.. Luckily for me they reformed earlier this year and started touring again yay!! (I never got to see them first time round gutted) So for me the shape of punk to come was their crowning achievement, I can still remember the first time I heard it I was blown away. I basically had no idea that heavy music (bar atdi) could be this beautiful, convey so much energy and passion and be so well written before I listened to the them. What more can I say than that about this album but what more could you want from a hardcore punk band? For me anyway that is exactly what you want from that type of music it just makes you want to jump around and rock the fuck out. Just look at the crowd on the video says it all..  If you haven't listened to it before I implore you to go and do exactly that. I will add a bit more to the post next week after I've seen them but I imagine it will be along the lines of wow, awesome, amazing and I hurt now! I can't wait!
