Two piece UK based experimental sounding math, taking aboard a fair amount of noise rock alongside post rock elements. Pretty rocking except for the end of the last track which turns in to a bit of a ambient type wall o noise.. bar that a pretty sweet three tunes. Atomics

Loqto - 1st Demo
I wonder if this is actually their first demo.. pretty ridiculous if so. Instrumental math rock post rock post hardcore type tunes from this Japanese trio. Fast moving, stupidly technical as you'd expect from a Japanese mathy band, throw in the musical sense to write short and catchy tunes. Good times. Nearly forgot to say this is up for the full free bee on their bndcmp. 1st Demo

Colours - Tetrachromacy
These kind of remind me a bit of future 1983 which in my book is a really good thing. Would place these a bit more along to post hardcore end of the spectrum. Good tunes for sure though. Tetrachromancy

Masiro - EP
These are an Oxford based instrumental ex duo, now trio - though I believe a duo on this recording. Think they class/describe themselves as mathcore types, yeah I'd go with that maybe adding heavy math rock meets post hardcore, with a dose of noise just to fit in the nna classification style.. Important question is though are these guys any good? Err yep defo say if anything in the descrip catches you check um out. Local side note peeps from the Thame/Chinnor crew will recognise the drummer in this. Anyways this is up name the price on their bandcamp. MasiroEP

The Zero Years - Ghosts Move In Silence And I Don't Talk A Lot
The Zero Years are back with a follow up from their last EP from October last year. Sticking with the instrumental math sounds these guys have made a fair amount of progress in the last eight months and have come back with another totally solid EP. This is just as catchy as the last record and with all round higher production quality defo a good un.

Baton Rouge - Demos
Three track long demo from this duo from Nantes in France. Mathy noise rock type jams of the instrumental variety. Pretty cool worth checking out though the tunes only seem to be about for streaming at the mo.. Demos

Gizmondo - Demos
Apologies for the lack of updates lately just returned from my mates four day stag do in Tallinn followed by a music festival in Barcelona the day after and today is the first day I could write anything semi coherent after melting my brain...
When was the last time I posted something Japanese? Ages.. These guys roll with an instrumental post hardcore n math rock mixer. They're still at the demo stages but hey they're still tight and pretty darn sweet. Two demos up for grabs on the name the price front, newer demo being newer versions of two tracks of the first demo. newerdemo

Good Luck In Haiti - The Future Doesn't Need Us
This duo from Australia do a pretty descent job of mixing up math rock and post rock, saying that they do keep it more on the math side of things, but I tend to think that's a good thing. First outing for these and it's a good one, quite a diy sound to it (not in the poorly recorded way). will definitely be watching these for future releases expecting good things. This is out for the price you name. The Future Doesn't Need Us

Sleep Like Trees - Learn Around
Math rock two piece from Arizona. Instrumental, not the super frenetic style of math rock that a lot of two pieces do, though still be quick paced with well thought out interesting tunes. Well worth checking out their other release too. No physical or digital available as yet but hopefully soon. Learn Around.

Microcause - Producing The Universe
Spanish trio from Madrid, occupying the space between post rock and math rock, though more to the post rock side of the line. First record from these guys apart from one track last year and a pretty solid first outing, only thing I'd say is I wish they made more of the changes/had more of them? but hey pretty sweet first outing still. Out on the old bandcamp name the price. Producing The Universe.

BBAATBIFFFS - Drink Fight Drive
A two piece consisting of bass and drums from Chicago. What I hear here is math rock meets noise rock and hardcore, you could probably apply more tags such as metal or grindcore if you wanted.. Doesn't matter I guess, what does is that these guys rock and that they do. The pair dropped this on bandcamp yesterday for the price you wanna pay, oh yay. Drink Fight Drive.
The Zero Years - March 98th, 301
Math rock trio that come from Chicago. This Ep is the first release from this lot and is a very solid first effort that is beautifully melodic, and catchy for instrumental math, a very enjoyable four songs. Anyway it's up on bandcamp for name the price, really worth checking out. March 98th, 301.

Suffer Like G Did - Raspberry EP
Was just checking out these guys as they are supporting Toe in September at XOYO in London and I thought supporting Toe must be good.. Yeah they are, play some funky instrumental math rock and are supper tight. Anyway they just released this their new EP on the 21st which has three fruity tunes on. You can listen to this and their earlier EP up on the bandcamp, I will say the production values are better on this one though, but both are a good listen. Bandcamp.
Future 1983 - Future 1983
These guys are cool, I can't find out much about them apart from they are three dudes from
Fernandina Beach and that one of them is in Friends (the band) I can't even find out if they are still going.. I hope they are because I'd like to hear more stuff from them. So they go under the banners on their bandcamp of experimental and progressive rock, I would also say they sound like some fiddly instrumental progressive post-hardcore with mathy elements, think a bit like a less hardcore fall of troy with a more indie sound. Anways these guys rock plus they have this up on their bandcamp for free download win win. Link to this on their bandcamp.

Lite - Phantasia
This is in keeping with the last post. Another Japanese band that fall into that instrumental, post-rock math rock area and once again displaying obscene technicality.. Where these guys differ is that they are more up tempo most of the time compared to Toe and a bit more up the math rock end of the spectrum I would say, but also really really good. So this was released back in 2008 and is one of my favourite releases by these guys, loads of cool loopy style bits and some serious rocking out in parts, good compositions and I would say they break down the musical ideas pretty darn well too, well worth a listen too. If you are interested in checking them out Phantasia can be found here.
