I stumbled across these guys on calculus and whatnot the other day after they posted their new tune up. Brighton based band kinda chilled mathy ish Jazz meets post-hardcore and spoken word and screamo. Anyway they have been steadily growing on me since then. They have some pretty cool changes from the chilled to the hardcorer pieces. I'd check them out. the band camp place. Lightning For Legs - Atomics

Two piece UK based experimental sounding math, taking aboard a fair amount of noise rock alongside post rock elements. Pretty rocking except for the end of the last track which turns in to a bit of a ambient type wall o noise.. bar that a pretty sweet three tunes. Atomics

Loqto - 1st Demo

I wonder if this is actually their first demo.. pretty ridiculous if so. Instrumental math rock post rock post hardcore type tunes from this Japanese trio. Fast moving, stupidly technical as you'd expect from a Japanese mathy band, throw in the musical sense to write short and catchy tunes. Good times. Nearly forgot to say this is up for the full free bee on their bndcmp. 1st Demo

Without Maps - Capillaries

Nottingham based quartet. These bust out the post hardcore jams, energetic and angular with shouty vocals, ok so not any untrodden ground here but all nicely executed none the less. Capillaries

Murder In The Red Barn

I don't often do posts on older tunes, but I've done a few on bands connected with hero of a hundred fights, which these are.. Plus these are seriously good in their own right, and also their tunes are fairly hard to come by. So these were about early 2000s era and kinda played a experimental math rock infused with post hardcore and such. Did a bit of searching about and put a file together with everything I could find which consists of a self titled ep, get in before the rain and some unreleased tunes. These are one of those bands really worth getting to know if you didn't already. I would say they were underrated, but I think it's more a case of under listened..  Collected MITRB

Colours - Tetrachromacy

These kind of remind me a bit of future 1983 which in my book is a really good thing. Would place these a bit more along to post hardcore end of the spectrum. Good tunes for sure though. Tetrachromancy

Ditch Tiger - Old Growth

These are a five piece from Idaho, playing what is mostly a punk and post hardcore sort of affair with decent touches of math influences to spice things up a bit. Defo been enjoying the last couple of days. Up on the bandcamp name the price well worth checking. Old Growth 

Masiro - EP

These are an Oxford based instrumental ex duo, now trio - though I believe a duo on this recording. Think they class/describe themselves as mathcore types, yeah I'd go with that maybe adding heavy math rock meets post hardcore, with a dose of noise just to fit in the nna classification style.. Important question is though are these guys any good? Err yep defo say if anything in the descrip catches you check um out. Local side note peeps from the Thame/Chinnor crew will recognise the drummer in this. Anyways this is up name the price on their bandcamp. MasiroEP

The Milford Higgins - For No Reason

Ok so was a big fan of these guys last release Destroyer, so pretty happy to see this Californian four piece back with a new offering. This time they have still come up with the goods, sticking with the same basic premise of the math and post hardcore vein. Having said that the sound does seem to have matured somewhat, possibly shifted slightly more to the indie end of the spectrum.. Anyways some good shit, this time being released through the plastic skull records though still able to be got there on the name the price tag. For No Reason

New Bastard Eye Scream

 So these are back with three new tunes. Was a big fan of their last record so pretty psyched to hear more tunes from these so soon. Only had the chance to have a few listens through so far but all sounds pretty darn good to me. Up on the bandcamp for the price you name sweet. Bastard Eye Scream

Insouciant - Variable Resistor

Foursome playing tunes mostly rooted in the post punk to the post hardcore end of things, packaged within that are also some pretty cool mathier moments.. Vocals being in the shouty to screamo ish type vein. Pretty cool jams and on the name the price price. Variable Resistor

Apologies for the lack of updates lately just returned from my mates four day stag do in Tallinn followed by a music festival in Barcelona the day after and today is the first day I could write anything semi coherent after melting my brain...

When was the last time I posted something Japanese? Ages.. These guys roll with an instrumental post hardcore n math rock mixer. They're still at the demo stages but hey they're still tight and pretty darn sweet. Two demos up for grabs on the name the price front, newer demo being newer versions of two tracks of the first demo. newerdemo  

Chronoscopes - Around A Seashell Ashtray

San Jose based four piece. What I'd probably peg as a mix of math rock, post hardcore and post rock. Probably wins out to the post rock side of things. A name the pricer over bandcamps. Around A Seashell Ashtray

Fearless Leader - Half Dead

So these have now released a proper ep they had a demo before, which has changed it's name and lost two tracks (now on this re recorded). Still keeping with the progressive math post hardcore style, but with higher production values than the demo though still keeping the rawness, good stuff. Half Dead  

County Drop - Ink of the Octopus

New Brunswick purveyors of pop punk with a sound incorporating post hardcore with math elements with vocals being of the emo style. Do check out the last release from these too I find it has more math and post hardcore to it.. They have this and their previous effort out on the bandcamp name the prices. Ink of the Octopus

Улыбайся Ветру - Моменты

Trio hailing from St. Petersberg with a sound that's something like chaotic hardcore and post hardcore, that also makes use of some pretty mathy rhythms, whilst employing screamo type vocal style. This is their first album and they've produced something that's brimming with energy. To me they kind of remind me of Amber Daybreak in the way the Cabs are reminiscent of TTNG, sped up, heavier more chaotic.. may just be me. Anyways is good stuff, up on bandcamp thirteen tracks for name the price. Momehtbl

Stalingrad - Cinc

Mallorcan solo project of Jordi Stalinigrad with a sound that's somewhere between a math rock and post hardcore cross to something more akin to mathcore though not the heavy side of it. This being the fifth release from him and coming in at 16 tracks long and up for totally free over on the bandcamp. Cinc

Ultra Dolphins - Alien Baby

From Richmond USA a trio pushing out the post-hardcore nicely crossed with math rock. This was the last release from these guys from back in 2010 and is probably more to the post hardcore side than the previous two albums which to me were more mathy, still a sweet record and a good place to start with these though my fav is probably why are you laugh as it's the most scatty to my ears.. Alien Baby

No Pretty Pictures - Hush Hush

Really thought I had posted on these before.. apparently not! This is the latest release from these from back in feb. These bring a mix of math rock, post hardcore with elements of post rock. So a while back I posted the rest of the hero of a hundred fights stuff which included a four way split and at the time I promised to put the rest of the bands up from it, so here is one third of that. Math leaning post hardcore goodness. really long title
