Trio hailing from St. Petersberg with a sound that's something like chaotic hardcore and post hardcore, that also makes use of some pretty mathy rhythms, whilst employing screamo type vocal style. This is their first album and they've produced something that's brimming with energy. To me they kind of remind me of Amber Daybreak in the way the Cabs are reminiscent of TTNG, sped up, heavier more chaotic.. may just be me. Member - Bipolarandshit

It's the first outing for this four piece from Kentucky, with a sound that's incorporating progressive and math rock features. The structures and guitar work do spend most of their time in the prog camp with interludes of the mathness. Intermittent vocals of the spoken to shouty variety nicely bridge the more ambient and spacey sections. My one complaint is the opening track build in is just too long but then I'm never a fan of that. Bandcamp it up for this is on offer for name the price. Bipolarandshit

Langosta - Super Nature EP

From Hartford, Connecticut these bring the Math Rock with a dance vibe that utilises the dynamics of post rock, has that crescendo effect to the music minus the drawn out build ups. This gives the tunes a overall chilling atmosphere whilst managing not to feel like they're dragging the tunes out. Nice jams and up on the bandcamp for the price of your choosing. Super Nature EP

Stalingrad - Cinc

Mallorcan solo project of Jordi Stalinigrad with a sound that's somewhere between a math rock and post hardcore cross to something more akin to mathcore though not the heavy side of it. This being the fifth release from him and coming in at 16 tracks long and up for totally free over on the bandcamp. Cinc

Ultra Dolphins - Alien Baby

From Richmond USA a trio pushing out the post-hardcore nicely crossed with math rock. This was the last release from these guys from back in 2010 and is probably more to the post hardcore side than the previous two albums which to me were more mathy, still a sweet record and a good place to start with these though my fav is probably why are you laugh as it's the most scatty to my ears.. Alien Baby

Really thought I had posted on these before.. apparently not! This is the latest release from these from back in feb. These bring a mix of math rock, post hardcore with elements of post rock. Postmadonna - Postmadonna

New album from this Seattle based four piece. These rock the progressive and math rock mix up. More over the place than the last record, which to me had a ton of promise, but was, well just too short. Happily though the promise from their ep is delivered on this album. Postmadonna

Brother Rutherford - Take Root

This is a solo one man affair of the post rock variety, post rock that does draw on math rock and progressive elements. The overall sound is pretty, well very chilling, but that doesn't equate to dull fortunately, and comes with that overall consistency and direction you can get with solo efforts. Latest outing from these and once again some seriously good math pop, honestly some of the best around.. These are great at keeping up the math levels without ever sacrificing the pop sense. If you haven't checked these before you should do. Pellow

Blast Dad - Moonface

Punk duo, with a healthy lean to the mathy side with a dash of noise, nicely executed first outing. Will be good to see how these progress with time. They are offering this up for the price you name. Moonface

Eight Million Kami - Demo 2013

Classing these as one's to watch.. These have put out a couple of releases prior to this on bancamp, all basic recordings but brimming with ideas and clearly some skills behind them, these demos fall in the same category. Think progressive rock that incorporates math and post rock, jazz n such. Anyways one's to watch. All of their tunes are up for free on their bandcamp. Demo 2013

100% Chevalier / Pauwels - Split

100% Chevailer and Pauwels split, both bands contributing one tune each to the split. It's good to see 100% Chevailer still doing good things with the mix up of math/post rock, here's hoping we get to here a longer length release from these guys soon.
I hadn't listened to Pauwels before but they nicely hold up their end of the split bringing more of a stoner sounding math mix to the foray. Split

Pilgrimage - EP

A fine four piece from Florida here, these guys have a indie sounding core that is post-hardcore and math rock based, a core that also takes on a ton of other musical styles such as post rock for instance. These do really mix up the influences well, while never loosing the flow of the music. Some of the members used to be in the band Fire Spoken by the Buffalo which you may recall were in a similar vein, what I would say is there is a definite progression from those days in which these take on board more styles and yet tie it all up better, plus the math side is just that bit notched up. Odd Dates - Get Even

This is the first release for this two piece from the Grand Rapids, though readers of the blog may recall Drawing Moutains and that these guys were part of them. They are kicking out a fairly different sound from the Drawing Mountains days, still keeping up the mathy elements of the music though replacing the indie sound and progressive rock elements for more of a punk/hardcore/math type angle. I liked Drawing Mountains and I like what these guys have done from the more punk angle and with the added injection of energy. They have this up on their bandcamp for the name the price well worth checking out. Get Even
